As California marches in celebration of the one year anniversary of the Women’s March, NARAL California State Director Amy Everitt issued the following statement:
“This march represents California’s continued effort to fight for equality, reproductive freedom, and the values we all share as Americans. It also represents our resolve to fight back against the misogynistic, bigoted agenda of Donald Trump and the California GOP. This march sends a clear message to the anti-choice GOP that we won’t back down from the coming fights over our fundamental rights. NARAL California members spent 2017 building an army, and this march renews our fight against the unprecedented attacks on our reproductive freedom. Our members will keep talking to their neighbors, calling their representatives, and showing up at the state house. At NARAL California, our members get involved, stay involved, and never stop fighting.
“This year, women all across California have dug deep and made incredible strides. There’s still a lot of work to be done, and we’re taking this fight all the way through 2018. While Donald Trump and the California GOP continue to push through their out-of-touch agenda, we know these aren’t the values of hardworking California families. It’s time California women and families had representatives who have our backs and are willing to fight for our basic human rights. To the California GOP and all the anti-choice politicians who spent the past year attacking our reproductive rights: we’ll see you at the ballot box.”
