NARAL Pro-Choice California today announced its endorsement of Assemblymember Monique Limón in her bid to represent District 19 in the California State Senate. Asm. Limón has long been an outspoken champion for reproductive freedom and she currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Women’s Legislative Caucus and as a member of the Assembly Health Committee and Assembly Select Committee on Women’s Reproductive Health.

“We are proud to support Assemblymember Limón, a dedicated public servant and longtime advocate for women’s rights and reproductive freedom, in her run for state Senate,” said Shannon Hovis, Director of NARAL Pro-Choice California. “Limón has proven her commitment to reproductive freedom as a leader in the Women’s Caucus and on key Assembly committees. She is exactly the kind of pro-choice champion we need putting our values front and center in the state Senate.”

“I am honored to receive an endorsement from NARAL,” Asm. Limón said. “Given the political climate today, standing with women and defending issues important to women is more important than ever.”

After anti-choice lawmakers across the country signed onto a brief calling for the Supreme Court to consider overturning Roe v. Wade, Asm. Limón authored House Resolution 69, which commemorates the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision and makes clear that California supports a woman’s fundamental right to control her own reproductive decisions and to access comprehensive reproductive healthcare. HR 69 passed out of the Assembly Judiciary Committee on Tuesday and will head to the Assembly Floor next week to coincide with the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
