President, NARAL Pro-Choice America
Ilyse became president of NARAL in February 2013. Since then, she has led NARAL and its members across the nation in fighting to defend our reproductive freedom and expand access to abortion. Ilyse is a frequent guest on network and cable news shows including MSNBC, PBS, CNN and Fox News as an expert on the political and policy landscape for reproductive freedom. Ilyse made history in 2016 when she became the first person to share the story of her abortion on the stage of a national political convention. This groundbreaking move was part of her ongoing efforts to combat the stigma that is placed on abortion and to give voice to the newly invigorated pro-choice movement.
