Gina is a community organizer and self-proclaimed policy wonk. Her Black and Sephardic Jewish ancestry motivated her to think critically about gender and race from an early age, and continues to inspire her to work for women and all affected by reproductive health. Gina is originally from the East Bay Area, but left California to attend the University of Oregon, where she studied Socioeconmics and Political Science. After graduating from her alma mater, she moved to Portland to work in Oregon politics.
In 2016 she worked with Planned Parenthood of Southwest Oregon as an Electoral Fellow, campaigning on legislative races in throughout the Willamette Valley. In 2018, she worked as the Field Director on a highly contested State Senate race, campaigning with pro-abortion messaging in the heart of rural Oregon.
After the midterms, she worked in Oregon’s Capitol as a Legislative Aide for Senator Rob Wagner during the 2019 Regular Session and Interim. During her time in Salem she worked with the Legislative Black Caucus alongside other Black staff and members to think critically about the state of Blackness in Oregon, which is work that she holds near and dear to her heart.
In Summer of 2019 she moved from Portland to Los Angeles. She’ll be working as our Southern California Regional Organizer, working with Action Councils in Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, Antelope Valley and Orange County.
In her free time Gina can be found trying new brunch places, hanging out with her rabbi, dancing and listening to true crime podcasts.
